Allergies are a common thing, and anyone may be at the shot. However, some misconceptions have been created regarding allergies. These are not true, but due to strong rumors, people do believe them. Here are the five myths that are busted about allergies and are not true.
1- TREATMENT OF DOG OR CAT ALLERGIES WITH HYPOALLERGENIC BREEDS
People`s mind has been caught by these hypoallergenic breeds. They say that allergies are caused by animals, but these types of dogs and cats are good to keep because these do not cause allergies. Some people do recommend keeping such pets for the treatment of allergies. Well, this is not true completely as not all dogs & cats cause allergies and similarly not all of them prevent against allergies completely.
2- GLUTEN ALLERGIC PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID BREAD
People with gluten allergy are thought to be unable to tolerate gluten. This is not true. It is exceedingly rare for someone to have a wheat allergy. People say that they have gluten allergy without any indications medically.
3- ARTIFICIAL DYES CAUSE ALLERGIES AND ADHD DUE TO ARTIFICIAL DYES IN CHILDREN
There is no link between allergies and exposure to the artificial coloring. Some studies do support this myth for artificial coloring leading to allergy in children. These changes as per those studies include the increase in deficit hyperactivity- disorder. Well, no scientific proof has been received for this.
4- EGG ALLERGIES ARE CAUSED BY VACCINES
People who have egg allergies are of the view that they cannot use vaccines. This is about vaccines in which chicken embryos are used for virus growth. Vaccines do not cause egg allergies. If a person still thinks it to be true, he/she should get the flu shot for prevention against serious illness.
5- VACCINES CAUSE MENTAL DISORDERS
This is a ridiculous myth which is commonly believed to be true. However, there is no reason for believing that vaccines cause mental illness.
